What we collect for the SMS program
When you sign up for Waypoint Job Alerts, we collect your name and mobile phone number, along with the timestamp and method of your opt-in consent, and basic delivery data (such as whether a message was sent and delivered) from our SMS service provider. We do not require any other personal information to enroll in Job Alerts.
How we use it
We use your mobile number solely to send the messages you signed up for — curated job openings and application deadline reminders — and administrative messages related to the program itself, such as confirming your enrollment or informing you of a change to the program. We do not use your mobile number for unrelated marketing campaigns you haven't opted into.
No sale or sharing for marketing
Opt-in phone numbers and other SMS program data collected through Waypoint Job Alerts are never sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We only share this data with the SMS delivery vendor that transmits messages on our behalf, under contractual terms that prohibit them from using it for their own marketing.
How to opt out
You can leave the Waypoint Job Alerts program at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. You'll get a one-time confirmation text that you've been unsubscribed, and no further messages will be sent to that number. You can also contact us directly at support@careerwaypoint.org to request removal.
Data retention
We retain SMS opt-in records (including consent timestamps) for as long as you're enrolled in the program and for a reasonable period afterward, primarily to maintain proof of consent and comply with telecom carrier and legal requirements. If you opt out, we retain a minimal record of your opt-out request to ensure we don't message you again, and delete other associated data within a reasonable period.
